I was nervous she’d wait to leave it on a cliffhanger with Sera just waking up, as was done in A Soul of Ash and Blood, but thankfully it continues a bit past that! I'm going to get flack for this, but any woman out there that hasn't gone to bed with someone to get something they wanted. There is also entirely too much Kolis in this one, although that was expected, and not nearly enough Nyktos. Again, a lot of what happens surrounding and regarding him feels like spoilers, and I definitely don’t want to inadvertently spill anything. I have my suspicions of what’s to come for Poppy and how the events of this book might tie into the FBAA universe.

A Fire in the Flesh begins very action packed way, instantly from the major cliffhanger the author left us with previously. By that third chapter I was screaming with excitement because of how something tied back to the very first book, From Blood and Ash. Her young adult romantic suspense novel DON’T LOOK BACK was a 2014 nominated Best in Young Adult Fiction by YALSA.I loved the first book and it shows on here I didn’t even read the second book or I didn’t even bother saying anything about it and forgot. I was really looking forward to this book, one of my most anticipated reads for 2023, and after reading it I couldn’t care less. but here is the thing, Sera is not that person, she has openly admitted to sleeping with strangers at what is essentially a brothel on several occasions. Kolis has Sera, but she manages to convince him that she is Sotoria reborn, even though she doesn’t look like her that much. She is published with Tor, HarperCollins Avon and William Morrow, Entangled Teen and Brazen, Disney/Hyperion and Harlequin Teen.

I’m getting fed up with Sera’s repetitive inner thoughts, and I would have loved to know more about what Ash thought and went through, even a few Kolis’ chapters would have been a nice and intriguing change. If it really is just because they are heartmates and the removal of his Kardia doesn't even matter then what was the whole point? But one of the things I loved the most about Sera was watching her come into her power and having others join her in her fight against Kolis! When Fire in the Flesh parallel series came out along side FBAA, I was so pleasantly surprised, Sera and Nyktos quickly became my favorite couple.
